PALACE CAFE Welcomes Summer with Temperature Lunch
Healthy Dining Options & Expanded Entrée Salads
NEW ORLEANS, LA – The popular New Orleans summer dining tradition continues at Palace Café with Temperature Lunch. Returning for its 16th year (starting on Tuesday, June 1st) Temperature Lunch is available Monday-Friday, 11:30-2:30pm. Two courses are priced at the previous day’s high temperature (85° on Monday=Tuesday’s $8.50 lunch) and is available through Labor Day. “Temperature Lunch is synonymous with summer lunch. Locals love it and frequently dine with us more than once a week,” commented Palace Café owner, Dickie Brennan. Guests have their choice of Chicken & Andouille Gumbo, Soup du Jour or a Werlein Salad as a starter. Using local ingredients, Palace Café’s culinary team create entrées that change daily.
Past dishes include:
Blackened Catfish – with alligator mashed potatoes and tarragon butter
Grilled Beef Tournedo & Jumbo Gulf Shrimp - over creamy quinoa finished with a pepper jelly sauce
Chilled Cous Cous Corn Macque Choux - served with blackened sheepshead fish
For those seeking healthy options, Palace Café has a “Lite Lunch” portion of the menu.
Lite Lunch offerings consist of separate appetizer and entrée selections incorporating local ingredients and fresh produce.
The low sodium, low fat recipes prove that Creole food can be healthy. These specials change weekly, and some past menu selections include:
Grilled Rosemary Gulf Shrimp - served with roasted root vegetable hash and mushroom consumé
Tasso and Chèvre Pistolettes - grilled housemade tasso and Creole chèvre demi-sandwiches, served with roasted tomatoes, pickles and chicory greens
Seared Gulf Fish & Oysters - with fresh spinach, leeks and mushrooms in a Creole Herbsaint fumet
In addition to the above healthy options, Palace Café has expanded their selection of entrée salads to include:
Fried Oyster Salad, Grilled Steak Salad, Pan Seared Jumbo Gulf Shrimp Salad, Café Cobb Salad and a Pepper Crusted Tuna Salad.
Palace Café also offers “$5 after 5pm” which consists of small plates meant for sharing, cocktails and wine available for $5 from 5-7pm, Monday-Friday at the bar and on the Parisian style sidewalk cafe.
